The colour of Colloidals depends on the particle size, how that effects the reflection, refraction and extinction of visible light. The smaller the micron size the smaller the wavelength of light it will absorb, leaving its complimentary colour to be transmitted. Particles so small that they absorb the UV light (outside the visible range) transmit the full visible spectrum and look nearly colourless. As the particle size increases (by very fine micron sizes) so the wavelength of the absorbed light increases and the transmitted complimentary light changes through pale to a dark plum colour. This relationship (Beer-Lambert Law) is exploited by colorimeter and spectroscopy in determining the concentration of the solution. Copper is needed to absorb and utilise iron. It is also part of the antioxidant enzyme super oxide dismutase (SOD). Copper is needed to make adenosine triphosphate (STP), the energy the body runs on. Synthesis of some hormones requires copper, as does collagen ( the ‘glue’ that holds muscle tissue together) and tyrosinase ( the enzyme that puts pigment in the skin). It help to stabilise and to balance the flow of blood within the body also helping to increase circulatory functions when necessary. It can be used to cleanse wounds and to fight bacterial infection. It has also been used in the treatment of arthritis, bursitis, and rheumatism, and to stimulate the metabolic processes. In anthroposophical medicine, copper is used to harmonise and balance the action of the astral body with the physical body. An imbalance between these two bodies can result in a wide range of mental and physical disorders.
