Wireless-Wise Families by Lyn McLean
The public is largely unaware of the dangers of mobile and cordless phones, wireless radiation and Wi-Fi, despite the warnings issued by independent experts. Long-time researcher Lyn McLean’s guidebook is an ideal resource for becoming better informed (see www.emraustralia.com.au and reviews in 20/03, 18/04, 9/04).
Scientific studies are increasingly showing disturbing side effects from proximity to wireless radiation particularly over prolonged periods: damage to DNA, to the brain, to reproductive and cardiovascular systems, to fertility and foetal development, to childhood growth, and more. Associated problems include learning, attention and memory difficulties, eye damage, social deficits, and disorders including diabetes and obesity.
McLean gives sound advice on what families can do to reduce the impact of wireless radiation: turn off Wi-Fi and use ethernet cables, limit children’s access to devices, install shielding technologies, reject “smart” meters and appliances, and keep phones away from the body. She encourages families to spend more quality time together without having 24/7 radiation overload. These are wise precautions indeed.
